This project involved the rehabilitation of two existing hydroelectric power plants, one located at Uvini and the second at Santu Miali in southern Sardinia.
The Uvini plant consists of a 320 Mm3 reservoir, a 4.5m diameter penstock, an underground powerhouse with two Kaplan turbines and one Francis turbine totaling an installed capacity of 13,4 MW. There are still two main transformers with an apparent power of 17,5 MVA and 1,6 MVA.
The Santu Miali works comprise of a loading reservoir with a daily regulation volume of 1,4 Mm3, a 750m long headrace tunnel with a 4,25 m diameter, a 33,5 m high surge shaft with a diameter of 8,20 m, a 150 m high and 2,4 m diameter penstock linked to the underground powerhouse equipped with a Francis turbine with an installed capacity of 27,5 MW and a main transformer with an apparent power of 320 MVA.
