Hydropower Project

Dorjilung hydropower is located in the Himalayas on the Kurichhu river, about 450 km east of Thimpu.
The planned HPP (IP = 1125 MW) develops the hydropower potential of the river (DH = 306 m, Q = 287 m3/s) located just upstream the reservoir of the existing Kurichhu hydropower plant (IP = 60 MW).

    – Headrace tunnel (L = 15 km, D = 11 m)
    – Surge Shafts (D = 26 m, H =135 m)
    – Pressure shafts (No. 3, D = 5.5 m, H =330 m)
  • Powerhouse (underground, Dim. 210x23x60.5 m, No. 6 Francis turb, Hmax = 306 m, IP = 1125 MW)
  • HV Substation and Transmission Line connection to the grid (approx. L = 85km, V = 400kV)
