Engineering for ten hydropower plants The scope of the assignment, commissioned by Government of Ghana (Ministry of Power), is the Pre-Feasibility study of 10 Medium-Sized Potential Hydropower projects in Ghana. The study includes six medium-sized, located on Ghana’s major rivers (Black Volta, White Volta, Tano, Pra) and four mini hydropower plants, with a total installed power of almost 300 MW. The ultimate objective of the project is to improve the Ghanaian population’s access to reliable and quality electricity service, and thus help transition Ghana into a low-carbon economy through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Our specific regional experience started with our involvement in Construction Supervision of Weija Dam in Ghana in 1975; since then, Studio Pietrangeli has successfully completed hydropower and water resources projects in several countries in Western Africa. We have worked extensively in Sierra Leone (Bumbuna hpp, etc.) and Nigeria (Abuja water supply, Mambilla, etc.) and, more recently, in Burkina Faso (Bagré dam refurbishment).
